Like the waves before the breakers, you shall crash against me, leaving no trace of your passing.
Born to a noble Ascalonian family many years before the Searing, Konrad was raised with the best upbringing money could afford at the time. He trained alongside Warmaster Tydus in the Ascalon Academy and was promoted to Lieutenant a year before the Searing due to his bravery in combat against the Charr. When the final Charr push started, Konrad was found on the frontlines of the battle, fighting for all the family he had left- his unit, for his parents had both passed away, luckily of age, 5 years previously. Luck was not in store for Konrad, however, as he watched his men fall, one by one, to the Charr attack, leaving him fighting for his own life. He managed to fight his way out as backup arrived with many a scar to prove his worth. Distraught, he left Ascalon on a pilgramage after the Searing was complete and Ascalon was in ruins. Arriving first in Yak's Bend, then in Lion's Arch, Konrad journeyed across the globe, hoping to find something to restore his view on life and the world in general. Mostly, he found death and danger wherever he turned, however he also found solace in small villages whom he took under his wing as he aged. After many years, Konrad had aged in both years, and in reputation and was known in circles the world around, being especially welcome among the Vasburg's for a favour done years previously. Now years older and travelling with a new band of younger companions, Konrad is more relaxed than he has been for most of his adult life, content now in his old age to let the world pass him by as opposed to acting at the forefront. Kyri sees this dismissal as insulting to his past, believing he should continue to fight for what he believes in. Konrad himself, however, does not possess any strong beliefs, merely fighting by necessity and enjoying the world as it comes. As such, many of the group look up to him as a kind of Mentor, being the most experienced of them. In battle he is withdrawn and tactiturn, considering each opening as it appears and acting to the best he can afford. This goes against Kyri's slightly headstrong nature and he is sometimes displeased to see her acting above and beyong the wishes of the unit. |
