Feel safe in my hands, for I will not let you fall.
Born to a poor Krytan family in the Temple of the Ages. At a young age his parents converted to the White Mantla religion, partly for the economic benefits and partly due to the religion itself. As such, when Luthor reached his young teens, he was enrolled in the white mantle to serve his parents' Gods as a priest. During his training and early tours of duty, he gradually became disillusioned with the Order and lost his belief in his Gods. This climaxed during a raid on suspected Shining Blade operatives with his unit. Wiping out what turned out to be innocent Krytans, Luthor stood up for his heritage and helped the Krytan farmers against his own unit, wiping them out. After this event Luthor was forced into hiding and feigned death to avoid investigation and his execution. Eventually he plucked up the courage and journeyed with Krytan ambassadors to Ascalon, where his talent was recognised and he was retrained as a monk of the five Gods. Returning to Kryta in his later years, Luthor settled down in the original farming community he had helped to save and nutured. After a few years, a stunned and exhausted girl wandered into his village and Luthor took her in. During her stay and nursing back to health, he and the girl, Kyri, began to fall in love and a relationship developed between them. As she wandered more and more, Kyri learned of Luthor's past from the local prophet, who excluded Luthor's aiding of the village. Disgusted in his betrayal, Kyri fled from Luthor, leaving him, once again, alone. Distraught, he decided to move on from the village and adventure in the world, attempting to help others. Later he learned that Kyri was pursuing an interest in him, and using his contacts, helped to spread the word of his true past, in the hope of seeing his love again. Eventually, she tracked him down and after a wary meeting, Luthor and Kyri once again began to talk and recreate their relationship. Together they set out and vowed to take down the Mantle, while attempting to also challenge any similar controlling cults across the globe. As a person, Luthor is quiet and withdrawn, talking when he needs to pass on important views then usually falling silent again. On the whole, however, he is more approachable than Kyri, having gained a more optimistic approach to life following his youth as opposed to Kyri's solitary existence. As such, members of his team trust him a lot more than they do Kyri, and are willing to put their lives in his hands on most occasions. Luthor feels as though he has found purpose in his life now, and is content with his current existence. |
