Pretty much ^ this. I like cats, though, so I don't mind having a "duplicate". Besides, boomkins and trees and bears look stupid and ridiculous, imo.

That being said, Druid's Flight Form is pretty convenient if you're levelling gathering professions like Herbalism or Mining, and Feral is certainly easier to run around killing stuff than Restoration. If you're incredibly rich, then you also have to remember that Druid can play like every role in the game almost...if that sort of flexibility appeals to you and your pocketbook, then you might consider it. Guide instead of policy?

Please explain how creating a guide would, in any way, be less work than creating a policy? Not that creating a 6 lines page has been much work so far. This policy does not involve 99% of our users (who dont sock), and of the other 1%, for those who have good reasons to sock (naming redirects, bots), the work is about 10 seconds per user, I bet almost all are already linked. The only people who stand to lose are those who want to keep their "for fun" socks hidden away, while participating normally with their main account. --Xeeron 20:53, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Guides don't have to be ratified and jumped through a million gridlock hoops before they can be implemented. They are just unofficial opinion pieces. (Think Wikipedia.) Look at any proposal that has gone on in, like, the last six months and how long it took before any of them were finally acted upon. There is nothing worth my money on the DS and I am broke anyway.

Also, Mudkip or Treeko. Water is always the easiest starter, or that's been my experience anyway...I like Swampert since (strong) Grass foes are rare in Sapphire, and Electicity does nothing anymore. (Earthquake was always sufficient anyway, but you can never be too careful.) Not resisting Water is sort of lame but ehh. As for Sceptile, Leaf Blade is just hilarys. Combine that with Dragon Claw and specially bred for maximum Special Attack, and you've got a strong and conveniently available "magic cannon" that stomps most things. Also, Sceptile is bit less stupid to me than Venusaur or Megaenium (sp?)... I tend to pick my Pokemon based more on appearance than actual stats. Feraligatr was amazing. Not necessarily stat-wise, but he was just a beast. :> One time I played through Blue Version using a Pidgey as my "starter". That was pretty interesting, although fighting Brock and Lt. Surge was frustrating. Another time I played through using a Rattata, and that was amusing since for some reason Rattata (or Raticate anyway) can learn Water Gun. Super Fang/Hyper Fang are cool too.

I leave for like a week to come back and find that shit's not under control; I do not approve. So now I'm going to rant about it as if you care.

1. Wyn resigning...well...shit. There goes most of the maintenance department. I dearly hope the rest of the sysops have their shovels ready. As someone who has continually nettled Wyn for, like, ever and perhaps helped , ah...throw her under the bus, I cannot say that I am completely sorry; at the same time I cannot deny it was/is kind of a shock. "I never thought it would actually come to pass."
2. Aric ragequitting: ...nice joke? This is just why I did not want you getting sysop status, and certainly not while so soon back. Did I not say that you'd end up doing more harm than good? :\ Still, I'll applaud you to the end for being a man of principle and going out as a martyr with a bang (again!). Following the community's mandate can be hard sometimes, yeah?
3. Loves to Sync: Should either have been dealt with decisively and forcefully (deleting nominations, blocking user) or ignored forever; any middle ground → troll attempt successful. At best he can only be accused of violating the spirit of the policies, since by the letter (as far as I know) he's never directly broken any. In other words his main success is in annoying the shit out of users who invest way too much personally into the wiki. You know who you are.
4. poke's RfA: you best be joking. You're a pretty cool guy, poke, and I'mma let you finish, but...you don't have to do this to please anyone. Regardless of it playing right into Loves to Sync's hands or not, I am 100% confident that no one would begrudge you completely ignoring the reconfirmation. (Xeeron, Backsword, etc. do make a fair point that it is the discussion about the thing and not the thing itself which is troublesome, though. Talk is cheap.)
5. Pling permablocking Kaiyen: that was really daft, old chap. You could not possibly have expected such an action to go unchallenged, especially considering your alleged history of jumping the gun before you had consensus. *cough*
6. Aiiane undoing Pling's blocks: "Nice united sysop front there" - Armond
7. Kaiyen's picture: Holy shit people, there are more inappropriate things to be found in Guild Wars itself. Personal tastes will always vary, and regardless of how scarred your virgin eyes became, Wyn is completely right that it contravenes no policy... not even the spirit of any policy. You want "pornography"? Maui was pretty fucking close to that. (Not that anyone not from GuildWiki would know what I am referencing.) I applaud Pling's attempts to purge ugly people from the face of the Internet or whatever, but come on. I also notice that not one person mentioned the zero-annoyance compromise, which would be to have the image on Photobucket or Imageshack or something. Have you people seriously never dealt with "controversial" (lol) images before?
8. While I do agree that certain individuals who shall not be named would indeed be better off on leave...very long leave...permanent absence from the wiki (for its sake as well as theirs), the proper way to go about that is to convince them to leave - either by making it so unenjoyable for them that they give up of their own accord (see Shadowphoenix, or myself for that matter), or by catching them actually breaking policies and unequivocally being "disruptive". I'm a big proponent of sysop discretion, but even on a much more "liberal" wiki like GuildWiki or PvX, just using discretion to infinitely ban someone is...questionable at best. Hint: If no one but you and your bros sees the imminent danger and threat User X poses to the wiki, chances are it's not time to evict them yet.
9. Briar and TV Tahiri: This is exactly the sort of stupid user dispute that ArbComm could actually do something useful about, if only that process didn't take a year and a half / we actually had two bureaucrats right now. Remember Shard and the ANet staff talkpages? Problem fixed!
10. PvX people in general: you're pretty funny, but remember: just because this wiki is so perfectly set up to be trolled and disrupted, doesn't mean it's right to do so. I know, it's pretty fun and so very tempting, especially when your "home site" is sort of "dead". That's why I came here anyway. Man, I feel stupid appealing to higher reason and humanity, but Pling does have a point sometimes... "Don't you have any respect at all for the wiki and the community it serves?" (paraphrase) Or as McGod would remind you, PvX is that way ------------->
11. unendingfear's "arbcomm": no. Stop pulling stupids. I'd give Halogod, UF, etc. an 8/10 except they are also pulling a Loves to Sync. Yeah, there's nothing wrong with requesting such an arbcomm, and yeah, there is some "gray area" surrounding what is and isn't appropriate conduct and posts on the wiki. Really, though. Some very simple rules to follow on non-PvX-type places: rape is out, marital aids and/or AIDS is out, swastikas are generally out (not because they are inherently wrong or inappropriate but because people get really upset about them, always). Finally, the only person on this wiki with a Native-level fluency in Cute is Ryuu. For anyone else trying to use it, you're just making yourself look pitiful and perverted. Weeaboo is a derogatory term, no matter what Naruto says.
12. I feel very sorry for Aiiane, whose term is not even halfway over and yet has already had two very silly arbcomms to deal with. Here's to hoping no more are to follow.
13. skill updates/previews/whatever: holy _________ with a _________ on a sandwich. I've never seen so much text on a page say so little. Someone should archive that page, lol. (And the changes aren't even final yet. lol.)

Short answer: Not for the immediate forseeable future. Once the election finishes, things will be mildly better, since then ArbComm can get back to work - but as events have been demonstrating, there are certain nasty undercurrents of the wiki which cannot just be solved in one easy action; no one is quite sure to do (there is no "magic bullet"), there is a lot of gridlock because of "consensus", and because of the administrative structure it is currently almost impossible for any one individual to "take charge" and "fix stuff". I would not be adverse to more bans for long and pointless conversations, such as pages-long ones that have over a hundred posts on them and need their own special archive. It sets a bad example of inconsistency when some users are b& (or strongly warned) for pointless chat, and others are let go with just a "guise, can you use MSN? *whine*" - Simpering Sysop. Now, I'm not saying that lack of backbone is a problem that needs to be addressed - there is always a place in the balance for less heavy-handed sysops. But, it does create a double standard of sorts. The expectations of what is and is not okay become confused, and then we end up with stupid things like Unendingfear's arbcomm. I know, but it's just feeling like a change for me that's needed. At the start of many sites, I use to be Adria and I changed from that to Lyra, from that to Ariyen and I have finally found a name I like. So, I changed to it. Also, never been too thrilled of using an A name, but have used them because of characters, etc. as I've written in groups, etc. on stories, etc. This handle I like mostly and feel more comfortable using here, because there are no "characters" or "stories" (such as irc, play by email, etc.,) that relates to the name for Star Trek or here. I just hope that I'll finally be seen for me and not for the interpretations or who I appeared to be. Some opinions stick, but others change. This is why I ask what I did. Thank you. I'm sure parenting definitely has something to do with it. Both my parents are foreign and my mother can barely speak English or write it coherently, and my father speaks English with a heavy accent and horrible grammar. I never took any type of English or literature course during college since it was never a requirement. I speak English with no accent whatsoever, but my writing suffers when I'm tired, and I tend to flip my words around when I speak too. Yes, that was an unfair generalization but at the same time I have met very few people that enjoy writing in the biology department, or have an extremely good grasp on grammar... (yes this includes the professors as well.) One thing I do find interesting is that many people I've met who are very good at mathematics are also good at English grammar, which some have said to me that the mental process in figuring it out is the similar and view grammar similarly as with mathematical rules and formulas. I dunno about that. Programming is too logical to be like real language. That's why I stopped liking programming... I've done C++ and Java, but I'm not going to go any farther than 2nd level.
