Designer
Hey Wyn, Maybe you could be the new designer arena net is looking for! Dero Ahmonati 16:04, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
- Nope, I'm not a game designer. -- Wyn 19:34, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
- Wyn is proabably more this or this if I had to guess... (and if I spoke french... well you could guess which I would be haha!) --Shadowphoenix 19:44, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
I went to school for game art and animation. Now I think maybe I should went into design. Dero Ahmonati 21:16, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
- Not sure if you mean Game Designer or Web Designer, but the former is very difficult to break into. Not that you'll end up where you think you will - I got a degree in programming with a specialization in graphics and UI design and worked in something resembling my field for just under one month (I wrote GLIDE acceleration code for a tiny independent studio in the late 1990s, but they lost funding when their contracted project was pulled and put under the parent's subsidiary). After that I took a job in the QA department of a CAD company, but doing little with CAD or even UI (mostly system admin, scripting, and some automation). --Falseprophet 21:49, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Moved Topics (On Linsey's Page)
Would I be correct in assuming we should give them the three days or so before archiving like everything else? — Jon Lupen 01:00, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- To archive the move notice? yes, to move the section, no. The three day limit is for it to be moved by or deleted on. I didn't see any reason to keep that suggestion discussion going on Linsey's page since she can't comment on it. -- Wyn 01:03, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Hi there
I thought I'd confront you about this, since you are html-savvy; I noticed that I can use this wording ( BVt ) normally, yet I can't make this my sig. Is there someway to allow this font in my signature?-- <font face="maestro"> BVt </font> 04:13, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
- You have to check the Raw signatures box in your preferences. And it should be font-family not font face.-- Wyn 04:14, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
- Have a look at this, look in the red box. — Jon Lupen 04:17, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
- When I used font-family (& font family) I was told the sig. was invalid html, so I had to keep it as face. Thanks, btw!-- BVt 04:23, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
- except...now it doesn't link to my page...I'll try and fix that, lol-- BVt 04:24, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
- You would have to do <span style="font-family:blah;">text</span>. font-family is a style specifier, whereas face is an attribute of the font tag. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 04:42, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Try <span style="font-family:maestro;">BVt</span>
. And if you wanted to change the color you would do <span style="font-family:maestro; color:red;">BVt</span>
. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 04:44, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks! I was kinda clueless, 'cause I don't know CSS.-- BVt 04:49, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
- Ah.. yeah, I always use the span tags not the font tags. -- Wyn 04:52, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Question
I read something about Gaile saying she wanted to bring Shard + Lena to the arbitration commitee or sumfin like that. Do you think that's going to happen? Dark Morphon 14:30, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
- See the Admin noticeboard. Misery 14:31, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
- Alright, thanks for the answer. Dark Morphon 14:34, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Another Question
I have a question about one of your user page templates I used for my user page. After I used it, some of the heading sections enlarged for some reason. Another problem I have is that there is a random blank white box beneath one of my character tables. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong and would really appreciate your help. Lastly, how do I create links to new pages? For example, I want to create a link in the characters section of my user page to my individual characters. I would appreciate it if you helped me out, thank you. Assassin Warrior 01:43, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
- The headings decrease as you add information. For the time being I added some line breaks <br>. As you add information in those boxes, simply delete them. I also corrected your character image links so they follow our image naming policy. To add a link to another page simply type in the complete page name surrounded by square brackets including the text you wish to appear separated by a pipe |. For example, if you wish to create a link to your user page that shows just your username you would type in Assassin Warrior and it would look like Assassin Warrior. You can find answers to basic editing questions on our Help center page that is linked in your support navigation box at the left of every page. -- Wyn 03:46, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
???
I am confused. We are allowed to make guild pages talking about our guilds....why can't we make player pages, telling about our players and our own personal intersts? If there is a place to do this, please let me know. If not, please get back to me and explain. Not sure why I'm not allowed at the moment.
Thanks, Athena --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Athena Shadows (talk).
- I posted on your talk page. You are doing fine, now that you have registered. They just need to be kept in the User namespace, rather than in the main namespace that is reserved for documentation of the game itself. -- Wyn 03:30, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- Also to sign your comments just type four tildes ~~~~. If you need help with anything or anymore questions there are an abundance of people that are willing to help. Drogo Boffin 03:33, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks a bunch= ) That makes perfect sense. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Athena Shadows (talk).
Um, yeah. I have another question...sorry. Hum, how do you add screen shots and other photo's to your pages? If someone could explain that to me, it would be great. Thanks again,75.175.234.209 03:47, 7 June 2009 (UTC)Athena
- Add a link where you want the picture replacing the parts in parentheses as appropriate. This will create an upload link. Then just click on the link, and it will bring you to the upload page. Simply follow the instructions. For further help with images on the wiki, see Help:Images. -- Wyn 03:58, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Do you like it -- Yo Jm 06:46, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- Not particularly. Please check with me before making changes to the GOD page. Thanks! -- Wyn 09:32, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Please restore my RfC
I'm not sure why you removed my RfC [1]. I wanted to gain some input from the community on the talk page issue. Everyman 09:28, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- Because Auron's tagged it for deletion, with the recommendation you move it to your userspace until you have read through the discussions I linked, and have done more than simply copy/paste the wikipedia policy language. You can readd it to the RfC once it's been moved, and you've completed the draft. -- Wyn 09:30, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
question about our page and the comment you sent
hi we were updating our page and seen you had left a message, could you please check it and see if we got it right now. thank you for all your help --Jenniffercohen 15:12, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- we are not sure what you meant about our userspace. I'm thinking it mean't the first part of the page with what type of Guild we are and what we do but we aren't sure.--Jenniffercohen 15:14, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- Read this and it should answer your question. Drogo Boffin 15:16, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) What Wyn means from this comment is that the information regarding acquired titles, heroes, pets (And I'd like to argue the professions of your officers and leader, too) does not belong in the guild namespace, the user namespace which Wyn is refering to is a specific page belonging to each user that represents information regarding them, for example, you'll find under my user page, I have information regarding my titles, characters, etc. The information you have put in the guild page should go in specific members/officers/your uncreated user page, and your guild page should be left for information directly relating to your guild. I hope this clears things up. ~ Ryuu Desu[ Talk|Contributions ] 15:19, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- ok we changed that. not sure how we make a user space page. and what is the problem with mine and my officers professions? thay have worked for us just fine.--Jenniffercohen 15:28, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- Your userspace is anything you put after your username. For you that would be User:Jenniffercohen/whatever goes after / is in your userspace. Drogo Boffin 15:32, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- Ok things are changed for the better on our Guild page. but we aren't getting how to create or link a userspace page to it and also a talk page other than our discussion board. we don't know how to do either so you can just click something and it takes you there. sorry niether of us are comp majors so we are learning as we go.--Jenniffercohen 16:26, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- The most basic way to make a userpage is to click on your username. It should take you to a page with a text box on it. That's your user page. So, just take the text you removed from your guild page and put it there, and voila, you have a userpage. --JonTheMon 16:59, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks but how do we put a clickable link on our Guild page to go to the userpage? and how do we do the same for a talk page or our discussion board if the talk and discussion boards are 2 different things.--Jenniffercohen 17:10, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- You make links by using brackets like that, with the destination in the middle. So, for your userpage you'd put User: Jenniffercohen on your guild page to link to your page. --JonTheMon 17:12, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

- You put the name of the page; for example, User:Brains12 comes out as User:Brains12 (as explained on that help page). If it's an external link (i.e. to another website), follow the instructions on that help page. -- Brains12 \ talk 17:39, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- The easiest way to access your userspace is to click on your Username at the top of the page when you are logged in, or your username in any instance of your signature on any of these messages. You see your names in red means you have not created a userpage yet. It will open up an edit window so you CAN create that page, the same way you created the guild page. Jennifer, I have created a userpage that says.. this is my userpage, and a link to it on your guild page. You can see how I did it by looking at the code. -- Wyn 20:48, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- thank you for doing that wyn now i just have to set that up. i may ask for your help with parts of it if i need it so i don't do it wrong. I still don't know if there is a diference between the discussion page and a talk board and if so what it is. I am trying to figure out how to make a clickable link on our Guild page that goes to the discussion or talk board but not sure how. and how you can have the link at the top of it like yours that you can click to start a knew topic. i've read the edit pages and stuff but i'm not getting it. could you possibly help with that please. thanks.--DivaCeryn 21:22, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- I see you now have a different username. The links I made were to your Jennifercohen space. If you wish to use the DivaCeryn as your primary space, I can help you set that up. You don't need to make a clickable link to the talk page, as people can just use the tabs at the top. Each article (page) has an associated talk page. -- Wyn 01:20, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
- I went ahead and consolidated the Jennifercohen and DiveCeryn userspaces, and corrected the links on the guild page. -- Wyn 01:37, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

About The Image, If I Make Something Similar From Complete Scratch, Then Could It Be Used? – Adi 23:30, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
- I don't believe there's any way possible for you to upload an X-fire logo even if you were to re-draw it yourself, unless you re-design it in the process. Just as taking a picture of a painting doesn't give you the right to distribute the picture you took, re-drawing a logo does not transfer ownership to you. — Galil 23:40, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Hey, you left a suggestion on my talk page about centering an image on my character page, and I was wondering which image it was you were talking about. Im just curious, cause Id like my templates to look as good as they can.--Neithan Diniem 00:56, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
- The full length images of your characters on the character pages. You have them all left aligned, I think they would look better centered. -- Wyn 00:57, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
- I changed your template to show you. Feel free to revert it if you hate it. -- Wyn 01:04, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
- Looks pretty good to me, though I may have to change the template to be split as 60/40 instead fo 50/50, which would offset it a little more to the left. This is because I do believe that my character's names and profession images arnt in the correct positions on normal screen widths. Im hopeing that changeing the proportions will fix it the easiest. THat, or i have to find a good font to use and font size instead of that name image there.--Neithan Diniem 20:00, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
- I just thought it gave a better balance to the page, since it lines it up with the heading for the section below it. It just felt off kilter to me with it moved to the right. -- Wyn 21:44, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Replica
It already is, considering the weight of cosmetic aspects of an item, questionable if adding replicas that don't look the same makes sense. Adding mere technical replicas is pretty much pointless. Nobody will look for a low level unique to reproduce it at a higher quality unless the skin is totally unique which is per defintio impossible. >__> 128.176.178.45 09:32, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

You might want to...
change your guild cleanup tagging reason since while going through my usual checkup on new guild page creations I came across this one (randomly chosen guild of the day to link to btw) and presently it reads as "This Guild article does not meet the content requirements of our guild page policy because: "Does not meet minimum content requirements.", I first noticed it on my own tagging and then came across the linked one so thought I'd let you know since I've now changed mine to "does not meet contact requirements" when it relates to contact related cleanup. Oh and too :) --Kakarot 11:07, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Increasement
ok, thanks for that hint! xD i used that word a few times already, i'll try to forget this sort of pleonasm and welcome the correct one. —ZerphaThe Improver 17:29, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
- Hmm, it's actually a super-rare archacism, perhaps: increasement on onelook. Webster's 1913 seems to think it has something to do with bacon. Wiktionary seems to be suggesting that it's only used in the sense of "There were four increasements in plethoras last week." Still, not useful for general use :) --Star Weaver 17:37, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
- wow, nice find. being rarely used in archaic language was already slightly suprising, but i lol'd when i read the bacon part. that was certainly not what i was thinking of when writing that note for Quickening Zephyr^^ the last sense sounds just terribly strange. but as you said, that still doesn't make the word adviceable for general use in an article :P —ZerphaThe Improver 17:47, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

- thanks for mentioning, yet i strongly doubt this should be used anywhere ;) anyways, Wyn already changed it meanwhile. (and Freedom Bound fixed one of her typos^^) —ZerphaThe Improver 18:09, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi again ;)
- How's everything coming? I just recently got back from my break of the wiki and Guild Wars. I just wanted to ask you a quick question because I'm still a noob, how do I create a new page on my account site again? and would you please also archive my page. It's been so long im rusty :'(. Thanks --Lancy1214 21:47, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
- When editing your page, do a title. The "/" infront denotes that it is part of the pagespace. Or you could just manually type the name into your address bar and then click the edit button. Such as, if I wanted to make page in my space titled Lol, I would go to my address bar and type http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/User:Ezekial_Riddle/Lol --Riddle 21:55, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
- Or type the full name of the page User:Lancy1214/<subpagename> replacing <subpagename> with the actual name of the subpage, in the search box. That will bring up the a link to create the page. See Help:Editing -- Wyn 01:27, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Hey there
Seeing as you're pretty high up here, I suppose I could ask you this. If I send someone an email through this wiki, where should I look for their response? --Tha Reckoning 00:21, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

about the signature thing on my guild
Hi wyn. I didn't know we all couldn't use the same emblem on our signatures. I thought since we all are in the same Guild we could. I read the stuff you left about it but sorry I don't get what to do. I gave Dohrin Rhine, Diva Tao and Diva the Destroyer the same one's only with their names. They all have clickable links on our Guild page. If you could tell them what to do about it since I don't know about it I would appreciate it. Also I have another question for you. Can you make my disscussion board like yours with the clickable link at the top for a new subject so I can copy it and give to the others to do the same on there's. and if so can our Guild's emblem and stuff still stay on them. Thanks.--Jenn 06:29, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- See what I did for DTD's signature. I simply uploaded another copy of the emblem as their sig icon. So your signature should be <small>Jenn</small> I've taken the liberty to upload the image already, so all you need to do is change the signature code in your preferences. <edit> This allows them to change their sig icon at a later date if they wish, without having to recode each instance. It also allows the image to function as a redirect link to their talk page. -- Wyn 06:44, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Question (2)
What is a bureaucrat? --Tha Reckoning 06:53, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- This wiki has a two tier administrative structure. Tier one are the Sysops who do the day to day maintenance required to keep the wiki functioning (deleting pages and orphaned images, etc), as well as deal with common user disputes, and the blocking of vandals, etc. Tier two are the Bureaucrats who deal with assigning user permissions (giving Sysops and other user groups, like ArenaNet staff different editing rights than a normal user), and make decisions in user disputes that have gone beyond the abilities of the sysops to deal with in Arbitration. The number of sysops is unlimited, but there are only 3 Bureaucrats that serve a term of 6 months, with each term staggered so that there are always 2 experienced Bcrats at a time (barring special circumstances like a resignation, etc.) -- Wyn 07:05, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- Wow, I didnt know the wiki was so political. Always wondered what that nomination phase thing was that came up all the time. Have you ever won/been nominated for that?
- BTW, on an off note, whatever you did to your page made it where the text box backgrounds wernt black anymore. Dont know if it was just my computer or what, but I can now navigate to your templates now much easier (I use your templates for guidelines on my own).--Neithan Diniem 15:06, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- Reply to the off note - If you are using a skin other than monobook for viewing the wiki, you have been seeing my page incorrectly. In monobook, the global css designates the default table background as white. I did not realize the default does not carry over in all skins. I have simply added the code that sets the table backgrounds now so that everyone will see my page the way I've always seen it ;P -- Wyn 02:46, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Redirects
Hi Wyn, is there a policy regarding when redirects are necessary? Not that I think the "shitway" redirect was needed, I was just fixing it because it redirected twice, which I know is bad, just curious. Freedom Bound 14:19, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
- Shitway is just inappropriate, and was created today. Of course if everyone disagrees with me, it can be put back, but generally, we don't keep stuff like that. -- Wyn 14:27, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
- There is reasonable amount of debate as to whether Sway refers to Spiritway or Shitway, but I'm not going to research the origins of such a phrase on the internet as that would be pretty retarded. Shitway has also become a more general term to refer to a gimmick. Personally I don't see the harm in recording common nomenclature. We don't censor talk pages and someone would pretty much have to search for it to find it. Misery 14:30, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

Would I be allowed to tag sections on Linsey's page (some things are obviously suggestions, and the only reasonable explanation for their not being tagged as such is that you haven't gotten to them yet), or is that reserved for Sysops? Raine - talk 01:41, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
- You can tag them, if there is argument however, do not engage in a revert war or mass discussion. The point of this is to eliminate unnecessary stuff, not add walls of text arguments. The templates were created so that the community could help Linsey manage her page more efficiently, either by archiving items she has tagged as answered, or moving stuff she has tagged as to be moved. The suggestion tag is only until the new namespace gets implemented, and then things will be changing again. -- Wyn 02:27, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Hiya Wyn - any chance you can change "Victory is Mine!" to the correct Victory is Mine! - that was before ANet discovered quote marks, don'tchaknow? Took me a while to work out why the check mark wasn't appearing... Shitway
I noticed that the redirect was deleted, but it's actually a common term used to express a gimmick build (especially Sway, when it was meta). Your reason for deletion was "unnecessary redirect"; is this just because you're unfamiliar with the term? Or are you personally opposed to the redirect for its crudeness or whatnot? Raine - talk 23:58, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- um... I don't think someone could play as much Guild Wars as I do and be unfamiliar with the term. To be quite honest it was a gut reaction, and I do understand that it is under consideration to be readded, and if it gets readded, so be it. I personally don't find it appropriate, but meh. -- Wyn 04:41, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- Do you PvP frequently? Raine - talk 04:47, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- I don't pvp at all, as anyone reading anything I post here should know, what's that got to do with anything? -- Wyn 04:51, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- I do and I haven't heard it used that often, I more often hear people saying "gayway", but then the amount of nouns one hears put infront of "way" in pvp areans is just silly. Personally i'm not against the page due to it being crude as don't really mind that. I'm against it cause its just a ridiculous page as honestly how special would a person have to be not to know what someone was talking about if they said "shitway" and is it really document worthy to have every minor pvp slang insulting term listed on the wiki? -- Salome 04:53, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- The term originates form when Spiritway was meta - it was contracted into "Sway", which was twisted into "Shitway" due to the nature of the build. Since numerous nerfs to the build, Spiritway fell out of the meta. However, the term "Shitway" remained, referring to a "skill-less" build in general instead of the specific build from which it had originated. The current iterations of Mathway, IWAY, and RtL (oddly, that one doesn't have a "way" behind it) can all be described as "shitways".
- "lameway", and, less commonly, "gayway" are also used in similar fashion. However, I'd argue that "shitway" is used more frequently than "gayway"; it may just be a matter of where you're looking. The definitive place, imho, would be in HA itself, where it is not at all uncommon, especially after matches where one team was running a gimmicky build ("So what if you can win with Shitway? Drop Gwen and play a real build!").
- Additionally, I don't feel that perceived obscurity is a reason not to document something. For example, Chiizu dancing is a term that the vast majority of players - even the vast majority of PvPers - have never heard before. But is it a term used to describe something in-game? Yes. Should it be documented as such? Yes.
- I understand that it is a somewhat "crude" term, but no more harsh than "scrub" or "shitter" (and even less-so, as it's not a criticism on player skill, but rather on choice of build). Regardless, I don't believe that there's any policy forbidding the posting of crude documentation, especially in a case like this, where the page is only going to come up if someone's looking for it (and come up to what? A redirect to "gimmick").
- I see no harm in the restoration of the page, though this may be from ignorance. If there's something that I'm not considering, some peril unbeknown to me, please bring it to my attention so that I may better understand similar situations on this wiki in the future. Raine - talk 05:18, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

- You'd be correct; it was. However, I'm pretty sure that was one of the ones I added to the list (along with gothspike, knocklock, and a few others).
- I hardly think an agreement between me and myself constitutes consensus (and oh, how different things would be if it did!). :P

Flames of Rebellion
Wynthyst, I noticed that you deleted my guild's page. I wasn't able to access the Wiki for the last week, so I didn't notice it until today. Why exactly did you delete the Flames of Rebellion guild page? Silver Tsumugari 21:46, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- I seemed to have typed it in wrong. I'm sorry. It just said that you'd deleted "Guild:Flames_of_Rebellion." But, according to my watchlist, it is "Guild:Flames_Of_Rebellion." I'm very sorry about the mistake. I don't know why, but it would seem that there were two versions of the page, and I'd been going to the one you deleted. However, I seem to need to re-submit my guild's cape. Again, I'm sorry about that. Silver Tsumugari 22:01, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- Guild pages need to be named exactly like they appear in game so that the link in the F10 menu will work. That means all words capitalized. :D None of your edits were lost, and even your cape image was still in the system, we just forgot to rename it when we moved the page. I see you uploaded a new one, so I deleted the original. -- Wyn 09:47, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

Am I causing you a headache? --Boro 09:39, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
- LOL! No, I was just hoping to give you one :P In case you haven't been keeping up on the licensing discussion, the new language is ready to be put in place, we are now just working out the whole infrastructure of the Feedback namespace, and then you will have a place to provide all your feedback, etc. There will be rules in place, and the rules for the staff talk pages will be changing, and enforced. -- Wyn 09:45, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
- On a related Topic, you seem to have me confused with Boro.... I just want to clear up any confusion you seem to have over me being an Anet hater. I AM NOT. I love Anet. They're one of the only Developers in the industry I still respect and want to continue supporting. Do I have serious issues with NcSoft's marketing and liaisons? Hell Yes. Do I have issues with their Skill Balancers? Yes. But that's all and I'm free to those opinions. And I also try to keep those issues separate from any Direct developer (regina's page excluded) feedback I 'engage in'. I think if you were less Paranoid/Protective, you'd see we share the same goals of keeping those pages informative but organized. Truce? --ilr 22:52, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
Archiving
I figured out how to get the archive box on my talk page Wyn. I'm not getting how to send stuff to it and date it. I read the archive page but i'm not getting what to do or how to send it there and i want to make sure it's done the right way. could you help with that part of it so i know and do it right. thanks.--Jenn 01:04, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
- Also we have 4 new members in our Guild now, Druss the Powerfull, Joey eats World, X Her Hun X and X His Babe X. I set up their user and talk pages for them because they didn't know what to do and we want them all to match. I copied my sig and changed the names on it to each one of theirs and sent it to them but they aren't working right. they don't show our emblem but they show their names it shows File: User Example sig.png then their name or something similar. They all verified their emails and stuff and all 4 are saying when they go to their preferences it doesn't say confirmed like the others do. I don't know how to fix that or if we did something wrong. they are waiting to finish their pages that are linked to our Guild page until I find out and can fix it. could you help Please? you have been so much help for me and the others in the guild. I would appreciate it alot so they can get their sigs right and finish their user pages.--Jenn 02:55, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

- thanks for the code i will see if i can get it to work for them, i think it's the same one i used i'll double check. I talked to all 4 of them on xfire playing this mourning and they all said they clciked the link that was sent to their emails to verify their email account and it told them they were verified and logged in so i don't know what to have them do about that. if you know please let me know. also like i said i have the archive box on my talk page and the Guild page but I don't understand how to date stuff and how to send it there. I have read the archive info several times and not sure how to send it there.--Jenn 16:37, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
- Well, if theirs are coming out showing File:User example sig.png then their username, they obviously aren't using the right code. -- Wyn 16:42, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
- I just had one of them try the code you left and what you just showed as it showing is what it shows. it doesnt have our guild emblem then their name with the redirects to their talk just their user page. I had him copy and paste what he put in and its exactly what i have in mine and some of the other members have in theirs. Ours all show our guild emblem that directs you to our talk pages and our name that directs you to our user page. for some reason our guild emblem isn't showing on theirs with the direct to talk page and it is the same code as in ours.--Jenn 17:13, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, since this is something that has to be done in their user preferences, I can't actually help them... let me check. -- Wyn 17:15, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

erase a talk page
Hello, Wynthyst.
You didn't allowed me, to delete a comment on that page. But I would like to clean that talk page (well, I founded the category), because it was set on the wrong page. We have an extern talk page for these discussions *. Is it possible to leave a simple link to that page on the talkpage of the category and to erase everything else? (please forgive my bad English) -- Yullive 11:19, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
- You should not archive those comments, on a category talk page, the only reason to archive would be if it had grown too large. I don't see that as being an issue here. It does no harm to leave the comments, in fact it is informative to anyone looking at it. -- Wyn 11:26, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

About Murdocks
Can you guys go steam, or whatever, and discussed about the http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/User_talk:Linsey_Murdock#friendly_message.2Freminder. Looks like Auron started some kind of flaming against Linsey and you know, if he has issues he can file a support ticket and not harass the team... and now they are talking smack. Maybe move it to his page or do a warning. Good Night.--ShadowFog 04:27, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
- I like how whenever something threatens Linsey it becomes worthy of national emergency status and cabal meetings must be held to instantly neutralize the perpetrator.
- No, seriously. I'm not saying I necessarily approve of his choice of words either, but you're making this a bigger deal than it is. Don't forget that you have just as much power as a sysop does to move irreverant discussion. Vili 点 07:06, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

I seriously don't believe I'm required to explain any of this to anyone, and honestly resent the implication that just because I have a high contribution count, it's somehow mandatory for me to participate. You will notice that I help wiki users when they ask and even sometimes when they don't regardless of my helper program status. -- Wyn 17:11, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
- If I had been the one asking the question, it would have been stated as a product of surprise, Wyn. I don't think anyone's trying to say that you should be in the program, just that it's surprising that you're not "officially" part of the helper program, given just how much you help people out. Which is much appreciated, btw. Freedom Bound 16:14, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Hey Wyn,
Can you please show/link me how to create that expandable archive of yours please? I wish to be able to have the Show/Hide on my Archive, so if ever the circumstance happens that my archive(s) grow large, I can just sort them into categories like yours.

Hi wyn
What do I need to do to Joeys page to make it the right size? and for some reason it is not letting me sign back into my account? is it a glitch? it did that the other day too and i waited until the next day and it was fine so my sig probably won't work since i'm not signed in. do i need to resize his pics and do them again or something.Jenn--69.148.145.197 15:07, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
- You could do that, or as most people do, you could use his mainpage for general information and then create subpages for each character, or an image gallery, etc. I just didn't want you to keep adding images and exploding the page any farther. -- Wyn 15:09, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Finnally got Mozilla, and now Im wanting to update my page. I need some tips/pointers on how you think I can input a few Moz-specific details and features into my pages. I thought Id ask you cause your character pages are Moz-ready. I was thinking along the lines of a few things similar to how the Guild Wars Main page appears. Think you could throw a few more suggestions my way? --Neithan Diniem 02:46, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Libel
We've covered this before. Libel requires proof of malicous intent, something no lawer could reasonably proove from wiki evidence. — Jon Lupen 15:34, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

- @Lupen-Before you try to make a point maybe you should type it out in notepad or something so you can use a spell and grammar check because this sentence ("Also, let me makes the VERY clear because it seems I haven't done that already. I'm not in this to held Shard."), makes no sense. Drogo Boffin 16:21, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
- I think what you miss Jon, is much like as a wiki we don't care what ArenaNet thinks of the way we run things, we don't actually care about how ArenaNet runs things. If this is what you care about, the wiki isn't actually the place for it. I've said before I don't think anyone has a full picture and if I've learnt anything it's that everyone lies. The point is, I don't care. I do care when every second topic on a dev's page gets derailed to something largely irrelevant. Only a small amount I admit. Misery 16:39, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Strictly speaking, libel is defined as a written defamatory statement that conveys an unjustly unfavorable impression; you are correct in asserting that, in most common law jurisdictions, malicious intent is a necessity for legal action, but it is not a definitional necessity. So no, Gaile might not be able to file a successful suit against Shard in a criminal or civil court, but it's not unreasonable to deem his statements libelous (assuming they are indeed false), regardless of whether or not malicious intent exists. And besides, since when are wikis governed by real world common law? Administrative action rarely (if ever) meets the burden of proof that would be necessary in a court of law. *Defiant Elements* +talk 18:25, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

And, re image, I was thinking of uploading one of Poison Arrow because that sort of makes sense, but I thought I saw something in the rules about an image having to be unique to the ones used by all other users, and I figure that that definitely must be being used by someone else already. Am I banned from undoing changes?
I recently readded the deletion tag that someone removed from Michael Jackson's userpage because I thought the guy was vandalizing (he also removed text from the talk page). This was a completely honest mistake, but now the "undo" button isn't showing up. <.>-- BVt 03:51, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Chase
I was not involved with this issue for the purpose of antagonizing him. Here's how it started: the Michael Jackson page was created. I assumed it was vandalism because it became a candidate for deletion, so when Chase removed the tag, I undid this. He then proceeded to remove all text from the talk page for MJ, so I added it back. Later on, I was watching the recent changes and decided to click on his username. When I got to his page, it had a naked woman bent over and fully exposed on the page in the form of numbers and letters, but it was obviously clear. I thought this was unnecessary & admins would want to know about that, so I posted on the admin noticeboard. As I was posting, I went back to his page in another window, and he had just a bunch of random numbers/letters up. I figured he might be making another one, so I went ahead and reported it. He also kept removing text from his talk page, as I'm sure you know, so I undid this whenever he did it, and I told him to archive it. Don't think I was antagonizing him, because I wasn't.-- Shewmake 16:24, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
- But I will admit I made the mistake of not warning him before I reported it.-- Shewmake 16:41, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
- The problem is, he already had Drogo after him, and as Lemming pointed out to Drogo, no one is above GWW:1RR, so by continuing to replace the text on his talk page, you were actually violating it. I understand you were not being malicious, but we also have a policy here Assume good faith. Too often I see people jumping to conclusions about a user's motives and actions, and coming down like the secret service on their heads. This tends to alienate people rather than provide guidance and encouragement to continue to participate. Since you knew he was working on his user page (he was continuing to edit it) you should have at least waited until he was finished before you jumped to conclusions regarding his motives. He has actually created some really cool ASCII art (pictures formed with seemingly random numbers, letters, and symbols). -- Wyn 16:47, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Suggestion page tagging
I've created a new old suggestion page tag and added it to ArenaNet:Skill feedback and ArenaNet:Skill feedback/subpage header. I think it's needed since people are still posting new suggestions at ArenaNet:Skill feedback subpages. -- Gordon Ecker (talk) 07:16, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
- I had removed the archive tags from the primary feedback pages (Those linked directly from the ArenaNet Portal) because I didn't see them as actually being archives since skill feedback has still been actively being posted there. Once the new namespace goes live (if that ever happens at this point), they would become archives, and those active links would be removed. That was my thought anyway. What I was actually trying to accomplish, was a little clean up of the Category:Archives, making it more useful, by splitting it into separate namespace archives. I had figured we would eventually need to have a separate tag for the archives in the Feedback namespace denoting the different licensing terms the contents were posted under, I just took it a step farther. -- Wyn 16:40, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

- Technically, no, but if pressed, he'd just call it vandalism, and everyone would say, "sysop discretion", so you're quite likely better off just dropping it. Just my $0.02. Freedom Bound 12:37, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

- Posting nothing at all would be "nicer" than posting "first." For example, it's similar to leaving someone alone instead of nagging them for no reason. As always, if you have something to say to me, feel free to say it - if you have nothing at all to say, I would much rather you say nothing at all than post "first" (which is basically the same as posting nothing at all, except it makes the new messages thing pop up and makes scrolling down my talk take longer).
- @Freedom - it's nothing to do with sysop discretion. If someone posts patent nonsense on your talk page, you are free to remove it. If their comment has even the slightest bit of relevancy to anything (even if you don't like it), it needs to stay. The policy exists to keep people from wiping warnings and important edit-related discussion off their talk page. It doesn't exist to keep "first" posts on talk pages. -Auron 12:45, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
- Well excuses then. I shall shut it down =) |Cyan LightLive!| 12:47, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
- That is not spelled out in the policy (GWW:TALK), so I fail to see how it would not be up to sysop discretion. And by the way, I did not mean your sysop discretion, I'm quite sure that anyone of the sysops would have done the same. Further, I do not disagree with the decision. I was merely pointing out that it technically, is not permitted under the policy as written. Freedom Bound 12:51, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
- @ I'm quite sure that anyone of the sysops would have done the same. Well, not really, but that wasn't my point. I was just curious if it was allowed and such, no need to enlarge this discussion to XL proportions... |Cyan LightLive!| 12:58, 27 June 2009 (UTC)

Page deletion
I have noticed that a page I made and wanted to delete hasn't been yet (User:Neithan Diniem/color1), also I was thinking of moving several pages to a new page so that it is more easy to navigate through the pages under my namespace. Instead of having most of my pages as: User:Neithan Diniem/Neithan Diniem info, Ill be able to place subpages under the correct mainpage: User:Neithan Diniem/Neithan Diniem/info for all of my characters. It may seem trivial, but I would like to have it this way to ease with editing and navigating back to the page that the subpage is transcluded onto. So my question is what is and how do I add the "delete page request" template tag to a page? I figured I would do this myself for my own unneeded pages under my namespace and not bother the sysops or site regulators with it. (sorry if that is in any way confusing, but I'm strangely tired right now >_< )--Neithan Diniem 03:19, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
- delete. See Template:Delete and GWW:DELETE for more on how to use the template (user requests, criteria, speedy deletions, etc.). Cheers, calor (talk) 03:33, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
User:Michael Jackson
Hello Wyn, I have been gone for the past few days, and I come to see on the Michael Jackson page that people think that I, Chase Ranger, own the user:Michael Jackson account. This is false. I do not own the account, but I added the RIP June 25, 2009 to the "BLANK" page in Respect, not Vandalism. So if you don't care to, delete the page, because I failed to read about the User and User Page policies, If they even exist. But I did notice one thing that Auron said, He said that it was the Wiki "Tradition" to remove things that were added to the user page, not an actual policy. If you could confirm this, I would appreciate it. Also thx for the defense on the page. Chase Ranger 03:08, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, well, I was under the impression that since you created the page (as recorded in the page history) that you had registered the user name once it was apparent that it was going to cause a problem. That I guess was a misinterpretation of events on my part (though it seemed reasonable at the time). If you in fact did not register the user name, I'm afraid the page is going to in fact be deleted, though there are objections to it, including mine. -- Wyn talk 03:12, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Birthday Present
Hey Wyn, if you come on GWars, I will give you a BDay present. Just add me in-game (Chris Malone). I will whisper you when I see that you are online. ^_^ -- §Lacky§ Talk 03:29, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- Pretty silly since I've been online in GW for over 6 hrs :P -- Wyn talk 03:30, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- O.o...you Wiki whilst playing? Wow...now that's the sign of a true gamer. =P I get all my websites and wikis done THEN play GWars hehe. I sent you a Guild Guest Invite, so if you want to hop on over to my guild hall, I can give you your bday present(s). -- §Lacky§ Talk 03:37, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- Hope you enjoy your presents! And thanks for the chat about the wiki. -- §Lacky§ Talk 04:14, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes. It's nice to know that while I piss a lot of you off on a regular basis, you will still take the time to acknowledge my birthday. -- Wyn talk 06:09, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- =O You don't piss us off Wyn (well, not me anyway). -- Lacky 06:13, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Changing IP address
Is there anyway to change the IP server address used by GW. My connection goes through a slow pipe to a server in another country. If I could use the server within my country, I believe it would be faster. Is there some way I can make GW to to that server IP? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 125.165.117.228 (talk).
- I would contact Guild Wars support, they might be able to tell you how to force a specific server connection. I personally don't know. You could potentially try playing in a different game territory.. All American territories are on servers in the US, I'm not sure where the European servers are physically located. -- Wyn talk 18:26, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- My best guess would be...Europe. ^^ 145.94.74.23 20:25, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
Hey.
I've already done mine. Good luck with the tagging, if you're not done later today I might be able to help, but don't have more time now. Good luck! — Why 10:07, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- LOL! Done today? Are you serious? I might be done sometime next week...there are untold thousands of user images :P -- Wyn talk 10:08, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- You've got 26k edits, right? I thought you were our Goddess of Editing! :P — Why 10:11, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, but I need to sleep sometime :D -- Wyn talk 10:13, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- I see that with the tagging you now put the users username in there. What purpose does that serve other than to say who the image is for, if I may ask? -- Lacky 10:37, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- Clearer categorisation, see Category:User images. They're now sorted (or will be sorted) on username instead of all being thrown in the { section for some reason. — Why 11:08, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- Oh awesome! *giggles* lol -- Lacky 12:44, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- Does this tagging effect all user images or just incorrectly named ones? If its all then I could probably rename or tag the images on my page for you.--Neithan Diniem 13:54, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
- All of them. If you're doing your own ones, feel free to replace the user image tag with Neithan Diniem. — Why 14:54, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
