Before the October 25, 2006 game update, merchants offered Dye Remover rather than Vial of Dye [Gray].
Dye remover could be used to restore the basic color of armors and weapons. (If it was applied to a Warrior Elite Gladiator Hauberk, it would have been colored yellow for example. By contrast it would have had the same effect as red dye on a Necromancer Profane Tunic, which had a green color when purchased.)
It was also possible to mix Dye Remover with other vials of dye, in which case Mixed Dye used a colored icon of the Dye Remover.
Trivia[edit]
- Dye Remover was often wrongly believed to have a unique color effect, especially when mixing dye, though it actually only served as cheaper option than buying the actual dye of the accordant basic colors of an item.
- The base color of both equipped items and inventory icons is still visible when slow load of graphics occur (usually in lower end computers), as the skins were not updated when the dye system was, and they still have their original colors in the gw.dat file.
